Camel Group Hosted the Meeting for the International Standardization of 12V Lead-Acid Auxiliary Battery Testing
October 15 2025

On October 9, 2025, the IEC/TC21 WG2 Working Group Meeting was successfully held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The event was organized by the Shenyang Battery Research Institute Co., Ltd., hosted by Camel Group Co., Ltd., and supported by the National Technical Committee on Lead-Acid Batteries Standardization of China. Experts from Italy, Germany, the United States, Japan, and other countries attended the meeting. Chinese representatives come from the domestic technical counterpart of IEC/TC21, included Mr. Luan Yundong, Director of the Shenyang Battery Research Institute, Mr. Fu Bingbing, Secretary-General of the National Technical Committee on Lead-Acid Batteries, as well as experts from research institutions, battery manufacturers, and testing organizations across China. The meeting was conducted through a hybrid online and on-site format, jointly promoting the international harmonization of 12V lead-acid auxiliary battery testing standards.

At the meeting, Mr. Luca from Italy, the project leader, presented an overview of the progress of the IEC 60095-8 standard, covering achievements made during the Committee Draft (CD) stage and a summary of comments and resolutions from the Committee Draft for Vote (CDV) stage. Participants conducted a detailed review of each technical and editorial comment and engaged in in-depth discussions on key testing procedures such as Peak Power Capability (PPC) testing, Cold Cranking Amperes (CCA) rating, cycle endurance testing, and charge recovery definition. In addition, the meeting reviewed and revised specific sections of existing IEC standards and clarified the voting process and timeline for the upcoming Final Draft International Standard (FDIS).

As the host of the meeting, Camel Group leveraged its extensive experience in battery R&D and standardization to provide comprehensive technical and logistical support for the meeting. Mr. Gao Guoxing, Vice President of Camel Group in charge of R&D, noted that with the growing adoption of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and energy storage systems, 12V lead-acid auxiliary batteries are facing increasingly stringent requirements in functional safety, power support, and cycle life. Drawing on its technological expertise and field data in the auxiliary battery sector, Camel Group contributed practical insights and application cases to support the formulation and optimization of key testing standards.

This meeting fostered global consensus on battery standardization, advanced the unification and improvement of testing methodologies, and laid a solid foundation for standardized industry development and international technical collaboration. Experts agreed that the establishment of this standard will enhance performance consistency and reliability of batteries across various application scenarios, thereby supporting the transition toward global green energy.

Representatives of the IEC/TC21 domestic technical counterpart emphasized that the meeting marked a successful example of international cooperation in standards development between Chinese and foreign battery enterprises. It also highlighted the active participation and sense of responsibility demonstrated by Chinese companies in shaping international standards. The committee highly commended Camel Group for its excellent organization and technical contributions.

As a leading enterprise in China’s battery industry, Camel Group will continue to deepen its cooperation with the IEC and the National Technical Committee on Lead-Acid Batteries, further contributing to the advancement of the global battery standardization system and promoting high-quality development within the energy sector and the broader global energy transition.
